Engelsmanplaat

Today's topic is the Wadden Sea and in particular the sand plate Engelsmanplaat. Together with Ron, Herman and Peter, I went there on an evening excursion to capture the sunset in the middle of the sea.
I've been here several times before, but every time it's different. No exceptions this time.

First we had a nice fish and chips plate in Lauwersoog together. The we boarded the ship Blijdschap and met the rest of the group. A small group of 12 people, that's nice. With grey, windy conditions we left the harbour on a strong sea. The ship fought its way through the waves, throwing water over the deck every now and then.

After 50 minutes we arrived at the plate. Wading through the water the final meters, we all stepped on the plate. This was my first time in a wader so I arrived warm and dry. Perfect!

We all started to capture and after a while, the colours changed from boring grey to an exploding orange and magenta. Although hoped for, this wasn't expected. But: perfect!

Around 22:00 pm we waded back to the Blijdschap, this time a bit deeper (waist-high) but my suit could handle it perfectly. I was warm and dry all the time. The route back to Lauwersoog was spent below deck, with a drink.

A perfect night out, with lots of laughter and new photos I can't wait to edit.
But, I guess editing will have to wait because for the next few days I'll be off on a short holiday with Annemarie. We're going to the middle of the Netherlands, an area called De Achterhoek.
