Abisko National Park

Steinbock_Travels Day 34
The last day in Sweden, it was actually a bit cloudy, and about 5 mins of drizzle too. Still didn’t need any kind of jacket we left Kiruna quite early, and made a stop to walk around the canyon at Abisko.
In the afternoon we went to Narvik War Museum, our first stop in Norway. The route followed the railway, which transports the iron ore from Kiruna, Sweden to Narvik Deep water ice free port, to be loaded on to ships, and transported mainly within Europe. “Narvik” was an excellent film you can see on Netflix, about the battle of Narvik. The museum was excellent and gave a good insight into the battle, but so sad for the town and all the inhabitants that it was soon recaptured by the Nazis, everyone wanted the iron ore for the war. We had a great spot to park up at the gondola station a bit higher up, with an amazing view over the fjord and mountains.
