Day 4...

I am normally a little sceptical about people who become overly emotionally invested in sport, but today I became totally wrapped up in the drama of the fourth day of the test match between England and India.

The day started with England requiring an unlikely 324 runs and India a further nine wickets to win. When play was abandoned over seven hours later due to a torrential downpour, the equation had shifted to England needing 35 runs and India four wickets. In between was as gripping a day of sport as I have ever witnessed live, with more twist and turns than a very twisty turny thing.

I have ended up with over eleven hundred frames to sift through, and frankly I'm too brainfried to do it now, but this is a shot of Joe Root who was instrumental in bringing England to the brink of an unlikely victory by scoring an almost chanceless century. When he reached three figures he removed his helmet and put on one of the charity headbands that featured in my blip two days ago, this was done in memory of Graham Thorpe who was a mentor, coach and close friend of Root's before his untimely death last year.

I won't be returning to the Oval for day 5, I hadn't bought a ticket, I suspect it will be over one way or the other very quickly, and I'm just too damned tired and drained to put myself through it all again - I shall of course be watching on TV though!
