A Day Of Ups & Downs
With the warnings of severe storms coming in tomorrow but a good forecast for today we decided that today was the day to go to Pittenweem Arts Festival.
It was a lovely day for a drive and for the change the traffic wasn't too bad.
It was also a lovely day for a gentle wander round the picturesque East Neuk village.
We called in to see "Our" jeweller and his wife. SWMBO worked out that it is 23 years since we first met them. On that day he handed me a £5,500 bowl and told me to take it outside so I could photograph it in better light. Talk about trusting!
Over the years we have bought quite a few things (not as expensive as his bowls ... unfortunately) and he has made Christening spoons to our designs for all the grandchildren.
The bowl in the picture was made a fair number of years agao and he has never 'pushed' it or suggested it any of his (very wealthy) collectors. Today he admitted that he is pleased it has never sold as it actually his favourite piece.
I have to photograph all the pieces we have and send the pictures to him so that he can do insurance quotes for them.
The first 'down' of the day was the enforced traffic jam on the approach to the Queensferry Crossing (the road bridge over the Forth).
It is a motorway and 3-4miles before the bridge the restrict the speed to 40mph (which of course brings it down to a crawl) for miles and once you get onto the bridge it is suddenly 60mph ... the 70mph 3/4 of the way over.
Madness!!!
We are due to go out to 'brunch' with my sister next week so we headed there to find out where it actually is.
That was where the 2nd - and much bigger Down occurred.
We had parked and were walking to the eatery and my foot slipped off the uneven edge of the road. That forced me to stumble and as I tried to catch my balance a chunk of the road edge fell away and I went down like a ton of bricks. The impact on the left of my chest sent a percussive shock right through to me back and after being helped up by another couple I couldn't catch my breath and more or less lost my sight and began to pass out. Luckily I didn't, but it took me a while to recover and get to the tables outside the eatery. After a cold drink and something to eat I was able to get back to the car and get back home (via Bags' house where we dropped off a congratulations card to Squirrel on reached her black-belt.
I don't think I have damaged anything (other than maybe a couple of bruised muscles/ribs). If things haven't improved be tomorrow I will probably take a trip to the A&E.
On a lighter note ... there are a couple of dozen pictures Over Here.
