I have sand in my ear
A full day of fun started with parkrun. Dereham didnt disappoint with a trail course through meadow and woodland. Lots of new and ancient trees with wildflowers and bird bonus. Parking was at a neighbouring rugby club. Sadly no toilets or cafe nearby but we had flasks and bagels in the car along with a bag of tasty baby tomatoes.
The car park was also home to egg and plant vendors. The eggs were being sold from green container that you walk into and self-serve. The plants were very reasonably priced. We both made purchases.
Next we dropped in on Iris before heading to the coast for a boat trip. The small boat held 20 people and on this occasion a dog. The dog looked quite scared. We motored out from the harbour to the sand banks watching terns diving all around us before arriving at a.colony of seals.. It was a real treat to watch them playing in the surf. The ride was bumpy at times and everyone including the skipper had a surprise when Marion leaned on the lever.to increase the engine speed.
Next we stopped at an observatory and enjoyed another enormous cheese scone. There were a couple of exhibitions inside too and we particularly liked the insect automatons. Less so the ugly animal paintings.
Our hunt for a.swim spot was foiled by crashing waves but we stood on sand in the sun for a while before beginning our journey home.
We stopped for dinner and enjoyed singing along to some 80's.music before the sun started.to drop. It was a long day for.both of us in the end.
