Protest photos in the extra
Remembering Admirer
Lots of little protests today. I went to a very little one that was not far away and got to see a part of the town I’d never been to. We were on an overpass with signs and waving at the people driving below. Many people honked in support. Did you know that some people drive with their hands on top of their steering wheels with their middle fingers up? Amazing. I was taught to keep my hands at 10 and 2 on the steering wheel.
One of the women brought a speaker and played her playlist. This is the way to do it. It was so much more fun dancing on the overpass than just standing there waving and taking pictures.
Karen and I are smart people but the online form to fill out to get health insurance through the marketplace was still very difficult and we aren’t finished yet. Maryland did have a marketplace even before the Affordable Care Act, but I am so grateful for it. I remember all the Democrats who lost their Congressional races because they voted for it and their voters believed lies. We deserve the people we have in office. Thanks to the Big Beautiful Bill our health insurance costs will go up next year. Hoping we’ll have positive cash flow next year.
I expect we will finish the form tomorrow.
The benefit? Instead of paying $2200 a month for health insurance through COBRA (the thing that lets you buy the health insurance you had after you lose your job), we’ll pay $800 something a month. Yes, that is a lot, but hey, $800 < $2200. And, of course, not having health insurance is deadly.
My response to one of the pictures in the extra was to laugh and I hope you do too.
