Midlands to Midlothian
My train home wasn't until late morning so we enjoyed a pretty lazy early and mid-morning ,with coffee and porridge and an eventual lazy ride aboard Biscuit from our nice wee hotel into town to Derby railway station.
We had time enough in hand to enjoy big cups of hot chocolate in a cafe at the station. Long goodbyes are never easy with your bestest friend in the world, with so many new memories to add to the last! It took several attempts to reach our last hug, and then I had to beep myself through the ticket barrier and find my East Midlands Railway train to Crewe.
After an hour I was in the grand station, and a quick toddle along the platforms got me aboard my Pendolino, but not in the seat I'd booked. All the reservations had been cancelled because of a computer problem, but I ended up with an even better window seat and lots of legroom. I was luckily on the right-hand side of the train and thus able to photograph Lowgill Viaduct once again, the subject of an early besties' bike bimble.
I kind of zonked after that and came to somewhere near Carstairs, and within a short time we were pulling up at Waverley. Mum and Dad kindly collected me, so we had tea at theirs before bringing me home again.
Thanks you gal, for another brilliant few days in your company!
