There's no place like home!

This morning we left the sunny ambience of the Sussex Downs and travelled to the urban metropolis that we call home - Birmingham. It wasn't the easiest of journeys and the roads were particularly busy; it is the start of the Bank Holiday weekend. However, the highlight of the traffic jam was certainly playing cat and mouse with a car full of waving children. Graham and I waved dutifully several times and then there were whoops of joy from our car playmates as Eric waved to them! Suddenly there were waving bears from both cars and Eric hasn't stopped talking about it since!

I was sad to leave, but as the signs began to finally show places I recognised, I began to look forward to the thrum of normality. As we pulled onto the drive, turned the key in the front door and unset the alarm I gave an almost audible sigh of "We're Home!" The cases remain unpacked (the new washing machine doesn't arrive until tomorrow - so what's the rush?) and I was pleased to sink deep into the upholstery, having clambered tiredly into my PJ's and slippers.

It's become almost traditional to have take-out pizza after a holiday (obviously the diet doesn't officially start until tomorrow) and I had intended this blip to be titled "Pizza and Pajamas" - sadly the pizza didn't last that long!

We all love our summer holidays, but you know what? "There's no place like home!"
