Before the yellow dust
Clings to my fingers
And I remember the fever of gold
I sit
Quietly unthinking
Of bird and water and sky
Of the leaf with its bobbled back
And the mossy log
The strangeness of orange
And the wet smell of bark
The feel of my legs stretching
And how to be
As still as a young duck in the flow
