KICKING UP

a little blowy today
as they say on the Pembrokeshire coast
when it’s honkin’ gale force
but nothing unusual there
here today the red warning flags
are flapping out straight
while two young men dive in cluelessly
and the lifeguards watch wondering
as I’m reading a book titled
“When Things Fall Apart”
hoping it’s not a prediction.
