Dolly's Day

Welsh Poppy

I spotted this lone Welsh poppy  in my front garden this morning and it was fully open.  However I didn't take a photo as I had a bus to catch.  When I got home later the petals were closed.  Never mind... it still looks pretty.  Thanks to BikerBear for hosting Flower Friday.

I had an appointment at the Eye Clinic in the Metrocentre for a Glaucoma Test.  My appointment was for 1pm but I got to the Metrocentre early so I could do a bit of shopping first.  The tests didn't take very long.  Pressing a buzzer when I saw a bright white light and then a scan of my eyes.  Worst part was having to stretch up to fit my chin into the " face rest " ... and keep still.  I needed an extra cushion to be able to reach it. I'm due to get a phone call from the Clinic on Tuesday afternoon to let me know the results.

Next I got a bus to Winlaton to go and visit Neil, Rachael and Ellis.  Rachael's Mam was there too.  She came over from Ireland last weekend. Neil was back " working from home " this week so Rachael's Mam came to lend a hand.  While I was there she was very busy doing a load of washing and lots of ironing. Poor Rachael and Neil are exhausted as Ellis takes a long time to settle after he wakes up in the night.  He's doing very well and gaining weight steadily.  He was mostly asleep while I was there but I was able to hold him for a long time.

When it was time to go Neil came with me and we got the same bus.  Neil got off in Blaydon as he was meeting up with an old neighbour of his for a training run..  She's doing the Great North Run in September - for the first time - and Neil is training with her.  Neil isn't doing it himself this year but he's enjoying helping someone else to do it.

I got off the bus in my village and popped into Tesco as I had a parcel to collect.  I did a bit of shopping while I was in there... and then I walked home.

Weather today was a lot cooler and there wasn't much sunshine.

You won't be surprised to hear that " the parcel " did not arrive.  I was going to phone the local sorting office but when I checked the times of the phone line  its only open from 8am till 10am and I was too late to phone today.  It closes at 12 noon tomorrow so I will try and phone in the morning and see what they have got to say about the non delivery.

Leg has been sore today - and itchy.

Steps today - 7,901
