Alhambra Memories

On a whim, decided to go over a pass to Granada yesterday. Had the most amazing journey through the mountains - saw a goatherd with a flock of hundreds of goats, herding them with a sling (!).

Some 30 years ago, spent a blissful term at Granada Uni - we used to go up to the Alhambra just for some peace and coolness, and one magical evening went to a Manuel de Falla concert there. Now it is so stuffed with tourists and visits are so regulated, I've not had the courage to take the family there.

But at least there is still a good view of part of the outside walls, from the Albaicin - the old Moorish quarters on the neighbouring hill.
