Blipmeet!

A quick impromptu blipmeet with Incredibish and Janet today -- they are staying in the area, and were in Lagrasse today, so only a 10-minute trip down the road for me. It's always a pleasure to meet blippers, and this was no exception. We had a good chat over coffee in the abbey garden and then wandered down the road and across the river to the ice cream spot, where somehow we ended up having ice cream and chatting some more. Two hours later I headed home ... As usual at blipmeets I was too busy nattering to take photos, but I did remember to ask them to pose this time. Thank you both!

It was quite surprising to end up in Lagrasse two days running, given that we don't go there often. But it's been a sociable couple of days. Yesterday afternoon I drove to Béziers airport to pick S up (yay!) and since it was such a lovely evening I was suddenly inspired to suggest tapas at, yes, the ice cream spot in Lagrasse. We got there at about 7:30; they have tables outside beside the river, and they were all taken, no doubt because of the summer literary festival. We sat on a low wall with our glasses and bottle of wine hoping to grab a table when someone left. A couple sitting nearby with two spare seats at their table promptly invited us to join them. So we had a nice chat with them for 20 minutes or so before they finished their drinks and headed off to a restaurant for dinner. 

Our copious tapas plate arrived (excellent value at 12 euros), and then I spotted neighbours L, I, and V sitting down at the far end of the terrace, so we joined them at their bigger table. We'd only intended to stay for a short while and then take the rest of the bottle home, but we got drawn into more chat, the bottle got finished, and we didn't get home till 9:30. Despite or perhaps because of this active day, I took no photos.

And now: it's Belgian chips night! Apparently today is la journée internationale de la frite Belge, so it would be rude not to.
