Fading Floribunda
For as long as I can remember since returning to UK, the floribunda hedge round the corner has been blooming abundantly during June. Once the flowers had died down, the householder would dead head the flowers and there would be another blooming in August. But not this year, and I don't think it was the case last year either.
Last year the hedge had been neglected all summer. This year, there was a magnificent proliferation of flowers in June, but as you can tell from the photo, the dead heading did not take place. Helen has told me that the old gentleman is ill. His neighbour is in a home, if not deceased. Ours is an old road and we're popping off. We, most of us, must have moved on to this estate when it was new, and not moved.
One of our immediate neighbours has cancer, Frank round the corner has leukemia, Len has Alzheimer's and I am not mobile.
Ah well. Enjoy the roses while you may.
