Its the 2nd day of the Fringe and we took it upon ourselves to get some culture in. Late night culture, no less.
Our show was at 9pm - which for a weeknight is late.
We managed to find a parking space after some hunting about the back streets of the old town and headed to the venue - Monkey Barrel Comedy.
Although we turned up to queue 20 minutes before the doors opened, we were turned away to go and entertain ourselve in their bar over the road. Rather than coop ourselves up in there we headed onto the Royal Mile to take in some of the atmosphere. Which, it turns out was largely gone.
I think with the 9pm embargo on the mile everyone had given up for the day. All that were left were some tourists and other non-sanctioned shows plying their trade outside of the Fringe cordon.
I only came away with 1 leaflet for a free fringe show, which is largely unheard of going by previous years.
Well it turns out that the old traditional and largely redundant red telephone boxes have turned into what used to be the massive columns they put out on the street for acts toplaster with their flyers.
Sadly, it doesn't look as nice when they have posters attached to them like scabs.
Plus, I hope that the hoardings are merely hiding the third box.
Further fringing within the week too.
Its going to be another tiring August i foresee.
