Verbena Bonariensis

A March birthday present for J from his fave ex-colleague Jane. She sent him 7 little rooty things which I carefully placed in pots & covered with soil & compost. (J isn't a gardener) This is the only one to grow: look at its ebullience!

I sent this pic to Jane, proposing a catch-up, as I sense she may feel she does more of the running in their friendship than he does. (I believe there's a word for the emotional work females do for men...)

And yes, we now have a date for a visit: Sunday eve, in an Oxfordshire garden full of ripening apples & rippling water. Reason to be cheerful. And maybe the rooty things that didn't come up will bestir themselves later...
