Our dishwasher, only 14 years old, again refused to finish the normal program. Instead we got the error message E15. Meaning water underneath the "cabin". Drying it helped to start the machine. But after solving another E15 or two it now gave us an E24. Meaning it could not pump the waste water away.
After a couple of retries (I know, for Einstein that would have been silly, but Einstein didn't know the new electronic stuff, did he?) and cleaning the part where the waste water is gathered before pumped away, we had to dig deeper.
I found out that the drain hose was blocked by dirt. Cleaning it should have helped, but didn't, the pump refused to work at all. The rotor was not blocked, the hose was free, so only one cause: the pump was dead.
I have now ordered a new pump and will try to replace the old one with it. Fingers crossed that that is the solution.
