Nature Diary

 we've had virtually no rain this summer in the South of England near to the sea.  Unbelievable.
In the end there was simply far, far too much to cope with via a hose or with heavy buckets of water so, for the first time ever, the effort to water everything  was abandoned. 
Then one hot, sunny day this beautiful little Viola appeared, all alone, in a planter which had nothing left in it but a large amount of dry soil.
