Out and About

Book Club

The Book Club choice this month, selected by me was The Bullet Catcher's Daughter.  I had not realised when I chose it that it was a "steam punk" genre detective story.   It’s different, that's for sure.   I wonder what the rest of the club will make of it.
I’ll mention the Shetland detective book written by Marsali Taylor because, I met Marsali at the Sedbergh book festival last year and got into conversion with her about my trip to Shetland.  To cut a long story short, I arranged for her to come and talk to the orienteers because it turns out she’s an historian and tour guide as well as author and sailor.  So, a very interesting lady to listen to and she gave us a great talk.

The Gallows Child and the Marriage Portrait were my Scotland holiday reading.  The End of the Road is an interesting account of a tour of the country visiting notable graves ,  the author using a hearse as a campervan.
