Chambord Part 2
Finally! We made it to Chambord. Emma was feeling better today. Even if we didn't arrive until 3pm. It closes at 6. So we got 3 hours there and I managed to take plenty of video and photos. Hopefully with a view to doing a future Youtube film about the place.
Had a few camera glitches though. I had 3 with me, my Nikon DSLR, the Lumix and my DJI Osmo Action Cam. The idea was to use the last two for video and the DSLR for photos. Unfortunately I left one of the SD cards behind, so I had to exchange an SD card between the Nikon and the Lumix. So that was fun.
Also to go into the château, we had to go through security, who were a bit on the aggressive/rude side. One told me that I couldn't take my selfie stick in (I use it for my Action Cam). I had to ask 4 times if I could use the actual camera that is attached to it, because he was too busy laughing and joking with his colleague.
As we didn't go yesterday, the reception staff seemed confused by our tickets, which were actually still valid. They came across as a bit on the arrogant side. I imagine they were just fed up with dealing with tourists.
Anyway, we found that there was a very large and wide spiral staircase to access the floors, with only a relatively small part of the château open to the public. The nice thing was that every now and then you had access to the top balconies, with great views of the gardens and beyond.
I hope that my videos will do it justice... perhaps with lots of editing.
Our feet and knees ached, plus my back. Emma had a bit of vertigo, so it was time to go back down the stairs. Which I thought I'd videod, but for some reason my camera shut itself off.
We wandered (or staggered?) back towards the car park (6 euros parking... Scream..!). A woman walked very fast directly towards me as I was ambling along - looking straight at me. I was in no mood for dodging about to get out of the way, so she suddenly veered off and hit my arm as she passed. With a "Pardon Monsieur". I found that a bit odd as she could've easily walked to the side of me.
Anyway time to offload my cameras and charge all the batteries. Hoping to go to the Matra Museum tomorrow. The nice thing is that these places are all close to us here. Chambord is 30 mins away and the Matra Museum about 20.
