Crushing work

Port King's Lynn exports scrap metal to eastern Europe. Till today I thought the piles of scrap were just loaded piecemeal on to the cargo vessels. I gained a fresh insight today and watched the crane grabber load quantities of scrap metal in to a compressing machine, but I have yet to see any resulting ingots of compressed scrap metal.

The main picture shows the operator and some scrap about to be released into the compressor. The extra shows a nearby heap of scrap with a car incongruously perched near the top awaiting its grisly fate. Aficionados of murder films will check the scene looking for an arm or leg poking out!
