Wednesday Food Market and Sunny Copacabana
We both worked in the morning, then up to the Wednesday food market to top up on our breakfast fruits. A quick visit to the Wednesday crafts market across in the Jewish centre on Barata Ribeiro. We’ve been here many times over many visits but never actually gone through the door with ‘kosher products’ on it. Inside we found a well-stocked grocery shop! We left with some bread rolls, crackers and granola.
It was sunny but a bit breezy and we enjoyed a walk along the front of Copacabana, marvelling at the height of the waves and breakers. The red flag was up.
Late lunch/early dinner at Mondego - where we had the huge feijoada on our last visit in Dec/Jan - and both had a pasta dish. We think this may become a favourite and take over from La Maison. Good service, price, food and portions. We sat inside but it felt light and open with big windows and a view onto their terrace and across to the front. We left with a sizeable doggy bag to give to a houseless person.
A siesta and then some Yahtzee at night in the little local place along from The Mirador Hotel. This may become another favourite. It’s owner-run and he has a nice way with customers. We may be tempted to try their burger and chips one night for 4 euros.
Extra is of the food market and the streets round about it.
