Weed Beauty

We've had quite a bit of rain recently followed by some nice sunny days so weeds are taking over and erupting everywhere. Some of them are quite beautiful.

There are thousands of this one which is like an elongated pom pom and up close its structure is stunning!

I have no idea of the name of it and a thorough search of the Weeds of Western Australia didn't give me any clues. I know we had a name for them when we were kids and its right on the tip of my tongue...
