Teasels in The Meadow

" Word of the day: "teasel" - common name of Dipsacus fullonum, spiky-headed plant of waste ground & grassland, esp. beloved of goldfinches.
Teasel is from the Old English tǽsan, "to tease"; teasel-heads were used to raise up the nap of cloth & tease wool free of tangles & dirt. "
( Robert G. MacFarlane)

Don't ask why but at my age I have taken up angling again! That is through the summer months and maybe into autumn if the weather is kind.

Exploring my local river, the Warwickshire Stour at Wimpstone, and meeting with limited success. However, I do find it therapeutic apart from the tangled line issues.

It's a very natural river meandering through the South Warwickshire countryside with plenty of wildlife and flowers to see. The teasels were close by to my chosen spot.
