Elm tree

Quick walk around a couple of blocks to fetch milk, then seemed to spend the rest of the day waiting for E.ON; they came at the last 5 minutes of their 4 hour slot. Another hour, and there's a working gas meter.

Out to walk after that; the elm tree is in Queen Street gardens; it and another much smaller one are marked for taking down; they are noticeably dying back. There's another big branch down on a cherry.

Along George Street, one section of which is closed to traffic and loading in for shows. There's a new Screwfix (all sorts of useful household and building construction hardware and tools) in the building on the NW corner of George St and Castle St, not quite open, but shouldn't be more than a week or two. Will be interesting to see if it maintains its model of having not many staff and strongly encouraging advance online ordering for store pickup.

20C and somewhat humid, light West wind.

If anyone is interested in an outdoor concert on Saturday 2nd, 17.30, the Band of The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, (military wind band) are to play in the Gardens for an hour.
