Picking gooseberries for jam
Mr C left early to pick up the boys while I got sorted out after our van trip. The washing got done and dried. (Thomas brought it in for me).
The strawberry farm was closed so they came straight here, asking for eggy bread.
They helped Mr C pick gooseberries and blackcurrants and then helped me make gooseberry jam. I got 5 jars from a kilo of sugar (£1.09) and the cost of 15 minutes of gas. No more than 50p a jar. Not bad when it costs at least £3 a jar in the shops. I’ll do the blackcurrant another day as it was too hot for standing over a hot hob. We don’t eat much jam so I’ll give it to friends.
I called on Shona with a couple of courgettes and we had a chat about whether or not we’ll continue with Philosophy group.
The boys have some popcorn for a film night. I hope we can find something they want to watch.
