Alfred the Great

I was in Winchester today to see my Orthdontist. I was hoping I was nearing the end of my treatment but it seems I have a way to go yet. I dodged the showers and had a mooch around Winchester and took this photo of Alfred the Great which is a landmark in Winchester. I had to dodge the cars to get the photo! Alfred the Great is seen as the first English monarch. The statue was commissioned in 1899 as part of the celebration of the millennium since his death.
