Getting the sparkle back

With added hoverfly. To be honest I didn't notice the hoverfly until I'd downloaded the photo, but I decided I quite liked it (out of a batch of not very brilliant pictures). We should be grateful to hoverflies as they are important pollinators and prey on aphids. Like so many insects their numbers have decreased hugely in recent years to the extent that they are in danger. They use their appearance to mimic wasps and bees and put off predators but they don't sting or bite.

I blipped this in A's garden as I was arriving to discuss managing our book group finances. We are taking this over from the WEA which our book group was affiliated to until the end of last term. I hope we are going to survive - we should be OK for the next year as we have some reserves, but the position after that is unclear.
