Grumpy Old Man

On the bank again

Another dry day, and getting better as the day wore on. I hauled myself up to the top of the garden bank and after a morning spell and then an afternoon one I managed to finish cutting down the tall shrub that I started from the deck the other day. It's that well-known deciduous shrub by the name of 'Whatsit'! I'll remember later. It was crowding up to the deck fence outside the sitting room window and now we have some breathing space - in time it will grow back.

The only way to get rid of the mass of branches was to throw them over all the other planting 40ft down to the road in front of the garage. As expected, some didn't make it and I'll have to find a way of getting them down. Not today.

My Blip today is of a group of Spigelia marilandica 'Little Redhead', a half-hardy American woodland plant known as 'Woodland Pinkroot'. Very ornamental.
