Eyes
Last week I posted a shot of the male of this species which is blue - see HERE - so I thought it would be good to give equal time to the female. Interestingly, I always get females of this species in my garden in the summer even though the nearest stream is about a quarter of a mile away; by contrast, I've only ever seen a male in the garden maybe once or twice. So that leads me to think that the females are more prone to wandering although maybe it is just that my garden provides good hunting, with the added bonus that they aren't being harassed by frisky males. Anyway, she was happy to let me get very close as she perched on a hosta this morning - look large to see her compound eyes. And Extra for a dorsal view.
It is headed up to 93F today and it is far too hot to enjoy being outside for more than just a few minutes. So I am taking advantage of indoor time to view some LR tutorials and finish my dog show photos. Jax is napping although prepared to spring up if I decide to go outside.
Thanks to JDO for hosting TinyTuesday this month!
