Whoosh!

A busy, enjoyable day. Such mist all day long.

Spent the morning at Our Dynamic Earth for a fabulous seminar by Jean Kilbourne about the depiction and objectification of women in advertising and the subsequent consequences in society - fascinating! I used to read about these things ages ago and I hadn't realised how much worse things have become (plus, I purposely try to avoid advertising). So much food for thought and incentive to get education right for our children and young people.

I then went to the Russian Consulate for the protest led by a bunch of fabulous comics - Mark Thomas, Susan Calman, Stephen K Amos, Zoe Lyons, Dana Alexander, Chris Coltraine and Joe Lycett. It was great to run into another blipper who got a much better shot than me (as per usual). I was particularly moved when Susan Calman spoke about growing up as a lesbian in Glasgow and about how a teacher told her it was ok to be gay. Another reason to get things right for our children and young people.

Then went to meet up with a dear old friend, Verb, and his lovely wife and playful son. Verb lives in Toronto and I don't get to see much of him but when I do we slip right back into the great friendship we started nearly 20 years ago in Ottawa as Parliamentary Interns. What a great guy.

Finished off the evening by going over the Panel papers again, for good measure. The day was a bit of a blur!
