I cancelled the class this morning but got my exercise with some manual labour!!
Next house project is the area outside the back door which is/was full of stones. However the weeds grew and it got a bit muddy and dirty so we decided to use up the last of the slabs and fill it in. First the stones needed to be removed and the earth dug up to the same depth as the manhole. OH was out so this was my project and my workout!! Five barrows of stones and mud and my part of the project was done and OH will do the next bit.
Shower and change at lunchtime and a few jobs in the afternoon. I made spanikopita for dinner (SIL made this when we went for lunch) and it made a change. Everyday cooking is so boring - same old, same old.
Another episode of The Narrow Road to the Deep North (I read this around 5 years ago). Deeply disturbing but probably factually accurate. Made me think of my Grandfather who died building the Burma Railway.
For any book buffs out there - I also loved reading Railway Man - Eric Lomax and far better than the film adaptation with Colin Firth. Not sure why films are always disappointing after reading the books?
