Quod oculus meus videt

Chicken of the Woods (Laetiporus sulphureus)

An early morning swim and another swimmer got in the same lane after I’d done my first half a mile. She was quick and pulled me to a good time for the second half of the swim. I can’t help but time my swims, hoping to see some improvement for the effort. I always find that having a good swimmer in the lane brings out a better performance.

Later I was walking back from the chemist when I came across this fungi growing out of an old tree stump. I had no idea what it was so I went to Google which identified it as a Chicken of the Woods mushroom (Laetiporus sulphureus), also known as Sulphur Polypore or Sulphur Shelf.

L had old work colleagues over for the afternoon. It always makes me smile when their uproarious laughter can be heard coming from the conservatory. They always have a great time when they get together.
