Newhaven Station, Edinburgh

I can't believe it has turned out to be such a nice day. If I had realised I would have made a bit more of an effort to go further for my blip today. Instead I took a wander through Victoria Park and down to Newhaven Harbour and back!

This is what remains of Newhaven Station which is on Craighall Road. I believe it is currently owned by the City Council. Despite being C-listed, it has fallen into severe disrepair. The station opened in January 1879 and serviced the Edinburgh, Leith and Granton Branches - all part of the Caledonian Line, before closing in April 1962. It was subsequently converted into a joiner's shop but now stands folorn, unlet and unused.
