We drove back the long way

Disheartened we drove back the inland route via St John’s Town of Dalry and the A702. There is a sense the housing market is shifting with a big price drop (at least historically) in July. Double council tax seems to be having a big impact in West Cornwall where in Penwith there is a house on the market per 50 inhabitants. The figure in Kirkcudbrightshire as was is more like a property for sale per 200 inhabitants. There is also informed talk of a post covid retreat from rural places as office returns become more insistent and as the reality of relatively remote living kicks in.

We’re also now close to agreeing to get our mountain of stuff brought from italy as a back load now we have the customs duty waiver. Could be first week of September with a truck travelling out to Switzerland which could, as the guy said, ‘drop down to Florence’ to catch our stuff up. Then storage in south east England until we find somewhere to put it all.

Meanwhile I remembered to get my prescription after being nagged at by one and all. I was five weeks in without much improvement so fair play to the naggers.
