As I was cutting the grass on the river bank this afternoon I noticed the flower and seed heads of this Branched Bur-reed.   It grows by slow flowing rivers and pond margins 
After lunch out with Steven and Maddie I came home and cut all of the grass, including the river banks.   I had nearly finished mowing the bank when my Flymo Hover mower* made a weird noise and now refuses to start   More expense.
*I use a smallish hover mower for the banks as they are quite steep and it could be dangerous trying to use my  petrol mower to cut them !!
