A Special Sunday......
We gathered at FBC under cloudy skies----relief from the sun and helping to keep our temperatures down, but there was no rain in them! Sweet Assurance, our ladies' ensemble, finished up the Ensemble Extravaganza that takes place during the July Choir Sabbatical every year, blessing us with two lovely songs, "Great Is The Lord" and "Trust His Heart", which is one of my favorites that they do. After the congregation joined hearts and voices in a few more songs of worship and praise before Pastor Wes directed our attention to Acts 2:36-41. He reminded us that salvation does not come to us because we say the right words, we must be pricked in our hearts to understand our need for Jesus and the salvation He offers to all who seek Him. We must also repent of our sin and we should follow His example and be baptized as a sign to the world we belong to Him. We know that being baptized doesn't save us----Jesus has already done that ----but it is a sign to all of our commitment to our new way of life. Then, our job is to share with others how they can find salvation in Jesus. It is not our job to save them---we can't do that---we are just to present the good news of Jesus to them and trust the Holy Spirit to do the rest. At the end of the service, our daughter was recognized for five years of service in her job at the church. She is head of housekeeping and she works very hard to make sure that we have a clean and healthy place to gather for all that takes place at our church. We are very proud of her!.......
