That’s shallot!

It’s been a day of catching up at the allotment and in the garden. First it was the turn of the allotment where I arrived at just gone 8am. It was useful to have an early start as it meant I could get four hours there before returning for lunch.

My first task was to pick raspberries, blackberries and blueberries, then courgettes, French beans and beetroot. I also collected and cleaned all the shallots which have been sitting in the ground drying for several weeks. They are an attractive pinky orange colour. I’m looking forward to using them. I may pickle some. Finally I watered, then weeded.

This evening before dinner I ventured into the garden and weeded and watered there too. Even established plants are looking very jaded because of the lack of water. We’ve still no rain of any significance forecast.
