from the ceiling

hoops of electric light

scissors a sieve
a cheese grater
a colander

what does Haegue Yang
think she's doing?

Kitchen Life With Shadows?

in our kitchen
there'd have been music playing
and my mum would have been singing along to it

mince pies would be baking
in the oven
and I'd be nearby
being a cowboy
or a brilliant spy

But really,
chairs and stuff
just dangling from the ceiling!

Is it art?

But my mind is sailing
on a sea of ancient memories now.
Now I'm feeling things.

Is it art?

I think it is.

Thank you Haegue Yang.

Art (as you might have guessed) is by Haegue Yang
and is part of the 'Resonant Forms' exhibition
at the Hepworth Gallery.

'Resonant Forms explores how artists across generations have been inspired by music and sound, engaging with themes of rhythm, harmony, and resonance. Centred on Barbara Hepworth’s stringed sculptures, the exhibition offers insights into the relationship between sound and form.'
