Huon Pine Chest

This magnificent Huon Pine chest is Late Victorian. This timber is now rare and exquisite.

The wood comes from a species of conifer native to the wet southwestern corner of Tasmania, Australia. It is often known as the Huon pine or Macquarie pine, although it is actually a podocarp, not a true pine. Because the trees were first found in the Huon River the trees were called Huon pines.
