Rubber Ducky

I think we started with three of these in our bathtub when our own children were little. I can almost remember buying them at Sweet Dreams, a toy store on College Avenue a short walk from our Magnolia Street house. They've always amused me and this little fellow has survived for almost 50 years and still graces a niche above the bathtub here. Having seen so many people lose their homes to fire here, I have come to appreciate these silly sentimental touches that not only make a house a home but remind me how lucky we are.

It was another damp, cold morning which finally gave way to sunshine at around noon. We weren't very motivated to go out early and Peter was bringing Blake over at 10am so he could spend the weekend with his girlfriend, Phoebe. He said it was the anniversary of their first date and they were going to relive it, having a picnic in a park. He was a little late because he'd been making zucchini bread. who said romance was dead?

We had our neighbor Paul over for dinner last night because his wife is visiting grandchildren in New York. He reports it is 95 degrees in New York and it's similarly hot in Madison, Wisconsin where Dana and Jim are visiting a couple of Dana's graduate school friends.

Today was a three block day on the quilt front., so I'm up to eighteen completed blocks, all different.I'll post a picture of progress pretty soon, although I won't be able to assemble the whole thing until all the blocks are finished.
