Lowgill Viaduct

From the West Coast Mainline south of Tebay. An iconic railway landmark on the Ingleton branch serving Ingleton, Kirkby Lonsdale and Seburgh. Long since closed.

Last week I was complaining about the sharpness of a shot of a train thundering through Penrith station at speed. Today I was grateful of those capabilities to capture this shot through the window of an Azuma Pendalino as it sped along toward Tebay. In fact there were some cracking shots taken at speed as the train stormed up Shap.

All worked well. Even the drag with suitcases on the tube between London Victoria and Euston. Our seats on the 13.38 to Penrith were adjacent to a window making for a pleasant journey which arrived on time giving 5 minutes to catch the bus to Keswick.

The car was still where we left it, standing on all 4 wheels and within a 45 minutes we’d visited Booths and were home in Armaside getting dinner.

Only a fleeting overnight visit as we’re driving to Edinburgh for a birthday party and a few days with Barbara and David.
