Final day
We asked if we could go out on the Science boat again. This time we went out at the same time as the team were scouting for polar bears. Helene, the Science team leader, was checking out a different part of the fjord.
Bamsebu was an interesting site. There was a private hut, where two very strong pioneering women had overwintered for four years. There were also skulls and bones and various other remains. It isn't legal to touch or interfere with such relics. The rules on Svalbard are tight, and clearly adhered to.
Back on the ship we're packing, recapping and just reflecting on the amazing experience.
The crew and staff have been exceptional, fascinating and so helpful.
You'll not be surprised to hear that we, as so many of our fellow travellers, have booked yet another expedition...
