Iconic question time
Today was my last of the week accompanying E to and fro the Royal Courts of Justice. I had arranged a business meeting to discuss a new project for the Trust I am Secretary to, which went well. I then had a walk down to the Embankment, along the river and back up to Strand. I came across this iconic street, an alley way - just asking to be ducked down - that I think once ran up to Strand, close to the Savoy Hotel. It has an iconic place in popular music history. The question, blippers, is to what am I referring?
Surprisingly, there was no plaque to be seen marking the event but, after paying due homage, I walked up to Covent Garden where I found a sports bar and watched Joe Root achieve his 38th century in test cricket. The extra shows him acknowledging the applause of the crowd. He was eventually out, stumped, for 150 and is now the second highest run scorer in test cricket. Only Tendulkar is ahead of him but he will need to keep playing for some time yet before he overtakes 'The Little Master'.
It's been good walking around old haunts this week and discovering some new places of interest. I'm not a Londoner but I do get the homesick blues if I don't get my regular fix of this great city.
