Collecting the pilot!!

Kirkwall, Orkney. Our trip ashore today took in visits to the Standing Stones of Stenness, Birsay Bay, the cliffs at Yesnaby and Scapa Flow.

I was surprised to see such lush green pastures and numerous wind turbines. The population of 22,000 residents is greatly outnumbered by the good looking cattle and sheep that we saw all over the island.

When we got back to Kirkwall we visited St Magnus Cathedral, had a wander round the shops, before a beer and a sandwich for lunch in a pub overlooking the harbour.

We sailed out on a sunny warm late afternoon and watched the pilot being taken off the boat….home for tea!!
