Anita Kay
Stars on Sunday was a religious request programme produced by Yorkshire Television (YTV) and broadcast on the ITV network between 1969 and 1979. Viewers wrote in to request hymns or Bible readings and these were performed by a series of guest celebrities.
Yorkshire Television executive and producer Jess Yates developed Stars on Sunday. On August 23, 1973 a beautiful young actress called Anita Kay came to me for an informal photo shoot. She was 22 years old. At the time I was told that she was "connected with the TV show Stars on Sunday".
Last night I happened to find my long-lost negatives from that shoot at Hyde Park Square, and so I then checked the internet for more info on Anita Kay. She is best known for Coronation Street , Happy Ever After and Heartland.
Yates's contract with YTV was terminated in 1974 when it was revealed that he had been having an affair with young actress Anita Kay. He was separated from his wife at the time. The programme continued for another five years. Jess Yates passed away on 9 April 1993.
