Fennel

The fennel along Brush Creek is unusually high and very hardy.*  When I made an image looking down through some blooms to others growing below, I thought it made a good natural abstract.

There was a big group of 'creek defenders' out today. We had no idea what this meant until we began to encounter little gaggles of children discussing the difference between trash and recycling and where each should go. A little further on another group was learning about the relationship between the creek, the animals and the environment.

There was also a man from the City of Santa Rosa and his son who were handing out maps of all the creek walks in the city. I told him about the log jams in our creek, how  nobody would claim responsibility for clearing them, and what an astonishing amount of wood is caught up in them. He was unequivocal...'The county owns the creeks and it's the county's  responsibility to clean them up. If they don't do it , you should call the state and get them to tell the county to do it.'

I finally counted the number of blocks in the current quilt. There are sixty of varying sizes which isn't an unusual number for a quilt. What is unusual is the fact that every single one of them is different. This is what it makes it interesting...it's a bit like a sampler quilt, which I have never done. The background is also pieced, but I haven't figured out how I am going to do that yet....I don't think my process is very efficient, but I have to visualize it as I go along. And in order to visualize it, I usually have to make it that way too.

I did one and a half blocks before I had to go get my hair cut, where Amy, and I discussed, among many things, the reasons why, after all the bullets he has dodged, it is the 'Epstein Files' that seem to be causing a huge rift in the Republican party. It seems to be the first time they have questioned what Trump says and does, and they are demanding proof not pivots. As for me, it feels a lot like a giant soap opera and whichever way it falls out I don't think it will matter to me. It feels like a quagmire  of his own making and I won't be sorry of he sinks into it....
