I popped into Hallcliffe Community Garden on the way back up from the station this evening. There wasn't much butterfly activity, a few whites and a Peacock, but there were loads of these mint moths appropriately fluttering around the mint.

The moth experts usually say it's impossible to distinguish Pyrausta aurata from Pyrausta purpuralis just from a photo, but this is likely to be P. aurata.

Earlier, I was able to add Small Copper to the campus list, a species which I still haven't blipped. I've taken photos on a few occasions this year, none have them have been quite sharp enough.

There also seemed to be a lot of gulls about this evening. Perhaps it's Flying Ant Day.
