Pump Court

This is Pump Court which is a courtyard in Temple, London. It takes its name, unsurprisingly, from the water pump that is at the forefront of the photo. The buildings date from the 17th century and house a number of barristers' Chambers. The courtyard is off Middle Temple Lane at the heart of "Legal London". There is a sundial in the courtyard which bears the inscription "Shadows we are and like shadows depart."
