The Shard
When earlier in the week we made our booking to take George up The Shard, we didn't know that Thursday would be the wettest day of the week!
Nevertheless the view from the top of the highest building in Europe was stunning and we spent a long time picking out the landmarks. Buildings that had once seemed huge were dwarfed - the Tower of London below us looked like a toy model and it was hard to pick out St Paul's Cathedral which once stood proud over bomb damaged London. Normous used to work in Shell Centre which towered over the South Bank and today it was insignificant. We followed the twisting course of the Thames and watched tiny barges making their way upstream.
After The Shard experience we went out into the rain into Borough Market, a great place for people watching!
